Today I discovered a new paper written about "The long- term effects of child sexual abuse" written in 2013 by Judy Cashmore and Rita Shackel. Unfortunately it is in academic language but if you would like to read it here is the link.

Here is a little excerpt I found interesting:
"There was no significant association between child sexual abuse and the family's socio-economic status. While physical
abuse was also related to a range of mental health disorders including
suicide attempts, but not suicide ideation, the long-term effects of
child sexual abuse were generally larger than the long-term effects of
physical abuse."
(Page 8 paragraph 4 under "The impact of child sexual abuse on mental health")
But please remember you can get help and can recover to have a life of quality that is worth living. It is a hard journey but it is possible. Also note that it gives a link to someone to talk to if you find this paper distressing. (Personally I found it very academic and not very emotive but we are all different)
Wishing you healing in your own journey,
Margie Thomas
