We must work harder at breaking the stigma of mental illness. Only a small percentage of people are violent, most people with mental illness go inward and may hurt themselves.
Being suicidal is not "Someone trying to get attention", it is someone who is ill and needs help.
If someone commits suicide they were not "Taking the easy way out or being selfish", they were ill and not in their right mind.
Depression is not a choice it is an illness that needs help, you can't just "Get over it"
So please if you know someone who is down read this article and read as much material as you can to understand their illness and know what to say to them to encourage them to get help. Let them know they are still worthy of your love and respect because "They are not depression" their illness is.
